How do I merge PDF files?
Click the drop zone or drag your PDF files onto it to add them. Once you have at least two files, drag the rows to set the order you want, then click Merge & Download. The combined PDF is saved directly to your device.
Can I change the order of PDFs before merging?
Yes. Each row has a grip handle on the left. Drag a row up or down to move it to the position you want. The number on each row always reflects the final order. The merged PDF will follow exactly that sequence.
Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?
No. All processing happens entirely inside your browser using the pdf-lib library. Your files are never sent to any server, never stored anywhere outside your device, and never seen by anyone else. This makes the tool safe for confidential, legal, or sensitive documents.
Is there a limit on file size or number of PDFs?
There is no hard limit set by the tool. Because everything runs locally, the practical limit depends on your device memory. Merging dozens of small-to-medium PDFs works smoothly. Very large files (hundreds of MB each) may be slower depending on your hardware.
Does it work with password-protected PDFs?
The tool attempts to load encrypted PDFs in a compatibility mode. If a PDF is locked with a password you do not have, it cannot be merged and will show an error. Remove the password protection first using the PDF owner password, then add the file again.
Does merging reduce PDF quality?
No. The tool copies pages directly from the source documents without re-encoding or re-rendering them. Images, fonts, vector graphics, and all embedded content are preserved exactly as they are in the originals.
What is the output file named?
The downloaded file is named merged.pdf. You can rename it after downloading using your operating system's file manager.
